Welcome to HomeAid Austin

Building a Future Without Homelessness.

We
Collaborate. Care. Connect.

HomeAid Austin History

We attack the reality of homelessness with a unique and collaborative approach.

Although our mission gives us broad latitude to engage in building projects across the entire Continuum of Care, from emergency shelters to transitional housing to permanent supportive housing, every HomeAid project supports an agency that provides services that help residents move toward self-sufficiency, such as education and job skills training, physical and emotional support, etc.

Aligning with local and national builders as well as local homeless service agencies, HomeAid Austin has created a unique approach to building housing projects for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

The process of building a HomeAid housing project begins with identifying a local homeless care provider agency and determining their particular need — possibly a cottage to serve abused children or duplexes for disabled veterans, for example.

Once the need and location have been identified, a builder captain is chosen from our builder partners to manage the construction or renovation of the housing project. The builder captain also secures trade donors such as carpenters, plumbers, insulators, and roofers, to provide labor, materials, and other services. Vendors are also an important part of our projects as they donate and offer discounted appliances and other materials. Finally, the housing project is built or renovated, typically with an average cost savings of 50%.

HomeAid turns the housing project over to the local homeless service agency, which then owns and operates it, as well as provides many services to assist families in becoming self-sufficient. Homeless service agencies offer free job training, counseling, and vocational skills learning opportunities to their residents.

Construction

Building quality & dignified housing is essential.

HomeAid builds. We provide safe and dignified housing and programmatic facilities for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

HomeAid builds and maintains housing and programmatic facilities for reputable nonprofit organizations and public institutions serving those experiencing homelessness by leveraging our relationships within the building industry to garner in-kind donations of labor and materials.

Community Engagement

Supporting strong communities.

HomeAid recognizes how challenging it can be for families and individuals to provide for their most basic needs during times of crisis and transition.

HomeAid works to provide dignity and restore hope through our Community Engagement programs. These programs and basic necessity drives provide the opportunity to provide additional resources to assist those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Education

Solutions start with education and awareness.

HomeAid accepts the responsibility to raise awareness, educate and advocate regarding the issues individuals, families, and our communities face concerning housing insecurity and homelessness.

Thank you HomeAid for being the goodness in our community!

At the heart of our mission is the desire to build dignified housing where families and individuals experiencing homelessness can regain hope and achieve healing.  It is through the generosity of our builders, remodelers, vendors, and trades that the HomeAid vision is realized, as beautiful buildings are built or remodeled, with the help of their donated labor and materials.
